The winters today are not like they used to be. This scene was photographed c.pre-WWI

Stetchworth High Street c.1930s, note the absence of kerbs and traffic

An old horse drawn corn cutter, this was before the days of the mechanical binder and
men had to tie the cut wheat into sheaves. Probably taken in the early part of the 20th century.
This is the first page of Stetchworth history pictures taken from an album compiled by Iris Stockwell.
To view many more pictures of old Stetchworth go to the Community Archives Network site www.ccan.co.uk/group.aspx?GroupID=yyyj
Once on the site click on the word 'thumbnails'. Stetchworth has entered this project thanks to the enthusiasm of a small group of residents and the help of Matthew Hall of Cambs. CC
