This map, available from the Newmarket Town Council Website, gives the ward boundaries of the town coming within the Suffolk County boundary.
Wood Ditton's urban ward abuts Newmarket's All Saints' ward but is in Cambridgeshire and includes St John's Road, Crockfords Road, Stretton Avenue and part of New Cheveley Road (Nos 1-59 and 40 -100) up to and including the west side of Cricket Field Road.
This division causes several administrative anomalies such the somewhat absurd situation that New Cheveley Road comes under two separate Police Authorities.
This is all brought about by the County boundary which in 1895 was changed to follow the railway line, previously Wood Ditton parish had included half of Newmarket up to the High Street.
Residents in Cambridgeshire are represented by seven Wood Ditton urban ward parish councillors and two East Cambs District councillors - Peter Cresswell and Derek Parsons.
